SHRM Alumni Panel ~ Looking for perspectives on HR Careers or Majors?
Former UM-Flint Society for Human Resource Management members will participate in a Q&A panel about their experiences on finding a career, what to expect out of college, and advice for current UM-Flint students interested in HR Careers or majoring/minoring in Organizational Behavior and Human Resources Management. This event is open to all UM-Flint students!

March Meeting:
Do you know what it takes to get your SHRM-CP?
Wednesday, March 17th, 4:00-5:00 PM
The Senior Vice President of HR from Financial Plus Credit Union will be speaking to the group about “Do you know what it takes to get your SHRM-CP” for the first 30 minutes and have a Q&A. She will talk about the SHRM-CP (certified professional) process: costs, prep, exam, what it can do for your career, and recertifying, and the different levels of such as SHRM-SCP.

Guest Speaker Presentation: How to Foster a More Diverse and Inclusive Workplace with Samara Hough, LMSW, Director of the Center for Gender and Sexuality at UM-Flint. Presentation topics include terminology, SCOTUS Anti-Discrimination ruling on the basis of sex, current concerns related to workplace discrimination for gender non-conforming and transgender identity, and what employers can do to minimize these challenges. Optional December Meeting: Thursday, December 10, 2020, at 4:30-5:30 PM
This optional meeting will be for networking and sharing ideas for winter 2021 events. Like last year’s optional December meeting, we will have a holiday/winter sweater/outfit competition. The four SHRM officers will be the judges and will pick one SHRM member to win a $10 Amazon gift card. This meeting will be held via Zoom.
