Entrepreneurs Society

Under Christopher Kelly:

Work/Live Project

The Genesee County Habitat for Humanity has partnered with the Entrepreneurs Society of the University of Michigan-Flint to develop a program unlike any other in the world. This program includes building six Work/Live homes in the Grand Traverse neighborhood of Flint, Michigan. The Work/Live program is a not-for-profit initiative that will be built around the needs of the surrounding community. The Entrepreneurs Society has provided a need assessment, recruitment efforts, as well as feasibility analysis throughout the life of this initiative. Habitat for Humanity has a goal to build six Work/Live homes by September 2014. The collaboration between these two entities is something that has not been done in the history of the Genesee County Habitat for Humanity and should prove to end in great results.

Timeless Surroundings Natural Photography, LLC is a web based business that specializes in landscape and nature photography. The intended target markets include photography connoisseurs, interior designers, and customers interested in owning a unique piece of art to display in their homes. This new venture was started by Entrepreneur Society member Bryon Killin and his wife Natalie in April of 2013. The collective intellect of the Entrepreneur Society aided with planning and offered support in many aspects. Currently, Timeless Surroundings is selling various images in a variety of sizes and options via the web based store located at www.timelesssurroundings.net. Future plans for the company include: wholesale distribution through local specialty stores, individual sales at local art exhibits and bazaars, and focusing capital on advertising and growth.

University of Michigan – Flint Research Conference

The University of Michigan–Flint research Conference was an opportunity for the top students across campus to share ideas and engage each other in a professional and academic manner. The research performed was both beneficial for the academic community and also for the students in building valuable career experience. The Entrepreneur Society researchers were the sole representatives of the School of Management at the research conference. Through these efforts the Entrepreneur Society was able to add a valuable academic element to the way that the School of Management enlightens young minds. The Entrepreneur Society would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Terry Van Allen for his continued support of its activities and for creating valuable opportunities through research for students at University of Michigan-Flint.
